Anbernic has released more information about its new rotating handheld console, the RG Rotate, which will be more suitable for carrying around.
It is reported that the RG Rotate will be available for pre-order on the Anbernic website starting May 11. The Arctic Black version starts at $87.99 (approximately RMB 601.9 at the current exchange rate), featuring a metal front and plastic casing; the higher-end silver all-metal version is priced at $107.99 (approximately RMB 738.7 at the current exchange rate).
The RG Rotate features a 3.5-inch square LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 720×720 . Game Boy and GBC games can basically fill the screen; games from TV consoles, as well as other handheld platforms such as GBA, will require adjustments to the screen ratio via borders or black bars.
In terms of configuration, the RG Rotate runs Android 12, is powered by a Unisoc T618 octa-core processor, and comes with 3GB of RAM . This hardware is expected to smoothly emulate most 3D games from the N64 and PS1 eras, and can also run some less demanding GameCube games. The device remains usable even when the screen is closed; it also functions as an MP3 player due to its support for Bluetooth and wireless headphones like AirPods. Battery life is up to approximately 5 hours.
Anbernic also includes a set of replaceable inner shoulder buttons with the machine. These buttons feature a raised design, allowing users to easily distinguish them by touch.
